Columbia Grad Photo FAQ
When is the best time to shoot at Low Library?
Early morning gives you the steps almost to yourself with beautiful east-facing light. Golden hour (late afternoon) creates warm, dramatic shadows on the columns. We'll schedule your session at the optimal time.
Can Barnard students shoot on the Columbia campus?
Absolutely! We regularly shoot Barnard grads at Low Library and Alma Mater. We can also incorporate Barnard's own campus — the Milbank Hall steps and Diana Center are great spots.
Do you shoot graduate school ceremonies too?
Yes — we photograph grads from Columbia College, SEAS, Columbia Business School, Law School, Teachers College, Mailman, SIPA, and every other school. Each has great spots near their buildings.
How crowded is campus during graduation season?
Columbia commencement week is busy. We recommend booking a separate session a few days before or after the ceremony for relaxed, crowd-free photos. Or we can shoot early morning on the day of.
Can we also shoot at other NYC locations?
Yes! Our Full Session includes 2 locations. Popular combos: Low Library + Riverside Park, Columbia + Central Park (just a few blocks south), or Columbia + Brooklyn Bridge.
When should I book?
Book at least 3-4 weeks before Columbia's commencement. May sessions at Low Library fill up quickly — early booking gets the best time slots.
